Welcome to GO2KILI, the trade name of GOTOKILI Company Limited, a company registered in the United Republic of Tanzania. Throughout this document, “GO2KILI” means GOTOKILI Company Limited.
We are a locally owned Tanzanian operator, and we built these terms to be clear and fair: fair to you, to our mountain and safari crews, and to the local partners who make every trip possible. Please read them before you book. They cover how booking, payment, changes, and refunds work, so there are no surprises later.
These terms apply to Mount Kilimanjaro climbs, Northern Tanzania safaris, and Zanzibar stays. A few points differ between a climb and a safari, and where they do, we say so.
Deposit. To confirm your trip and begin booking your crew, permits, accommodation, and logistics, we ask for a deposit of 20% of your total trip cost. This is the same for every trip, whether you are climbing, on safari, or combining the two. Your deposit secures your dates and starts the ground preparations.
Confirming your booking. Your booking is confirmed once we have received your deposit and sent you written confirmation by email. Until then, your dates and rooms are held only provisionally.
Your deposit is non-refundable. What happens to it if your plans change depends on whether you are climbing or on safari. We explain that in Section 2.
Final payment. Your remaining balance is due 60 days before your arrival date. If you book within 60 days of your start date, full payment is due at the time of booking.
How to pay. GO2KILI accepts international bank transfer, in USD. Use the bank details on your invoice. Once you have sent payment, please email or WhatsApp your transfer confirmation so we can verify and secure your booking. Bank transfer fees are the sender’s responsibility. Please send payments free of bank charges, as any shortfall from transfer or conversion fees will be settled with your next payment or on arrival.
Travel insurance is required. Travel insurance with medical coverage is mandatory for every GO2KILI trip. For Kilimanjaro climbs, your policy must include medical evacuation covering high-altitude trekking up to 6,000 meters. Travel is an investment, and it deserves protecting, so we strongly urge every guest to add trip cancellation and delay coverage as well. GO2KILI is not responsible for losses from uninsured events, but we will gladly provide any documentation you need to file a claim. If you are unsure which policy to choose, ask us, and we will share trusted recommendations.
What happens to your deposit if you postpone or cancel depends on the kind of trip, because climbs and safaris are paid for very differently.
Kilimanjaro climbs: your Lifetime Deposit. Your climb deposit never expires. If you need to delay or change your dates, it stays safely on file and applies to any future GO2KILI climb. We can do this because your climb deposit is held against your climb, not paid out to a third party in advance.
Safari and Zanzibar. To hold your rooms, your safari deposit is sent straight to your lodges as soon as it reaches our account, and they treat it as non-refundable. For that reason a safari or Zanzibar deposit cannot be a lifetime deposit, and it is forfeited if you cancel. We will always go back to your lodges and work to turn it into a credit toward a future trip, and they often agree, though unlike a climb deposit we cannot promise it in advance. This is one of the reasons we ask every guest to carry travel insurance.
Future prices may adjust with park-fee or supplier changes, and we will always explain any difference before it applies.
Plans change. If you need to move your trip, email your GO2KILI coordinator and we will help you shift dates with as little stress and cost as possible.
Rescheduling means moving your existing trip to new dates at the same lodges and camps, and it is always subject to those properties having space on your new dates. Switching to a different property is not a reschedule. Your lodges hold your money against your original booking, so leaving one for another is treated as a cancellation of the first, with its terms in Section 4 applying, and a fresh booking at the new one. We will always lay out the real cost of any change before you commit to it.
Notice before arrival
| What happens |
|---|---|
| More than 60 days | Your payments, including your deposit, move to your new dates at the same properties, with no charge from us, as long as they have space. |
| 15–60 days | You can usually reschedule, and we will help you do it. Within 60 days your lodges and flights are often already committed. Climbs tend to move more easily; safari and Zanzibar dates this close carry the same supplier costs as a cancellation (see Section 4), because lodges treat a date change inside their window as a fresh booking. We will always show you the real cost before you commit to a change.
|
| 0–14 days | Rescheduling is not possible this close to arrival, as crews, permits, and suppliers are confirmed. Any change is handled under the cancellation terms below.
|
For what happens to your deposit, see Section 2: your Kilimanjaro climb deposit carries forward for life, while a safari or Zanzibar deposit follows your lodges’ own terms. Accommodation and domestic flights follow their own supplier policies, and within 60 days some may charge penalties. We will always do our best to minimize them.
If you need to cancel, please email your GO2KILI coordinator. Cancellations must be in writing, and refunds are calculated from the date we receive your written notice.
| Notice before arrival | What you forfeit | What is refunded |
|---|---|---|
| More than 60 days | Deposit only | Everything else you have paid |
| 45–59 days | 35% of total | 65% |
| 30–44 days | 50% of total | 50% |
| 15–29 days | 75% of total | 25% |
| 0–14 days | 100% | No refund |
Whether a forfeited deposit can still become future travel depends on your trip type, as explained in Section 2: climb deposits carry forward for life, while for safari and Zanzibar we work to recover the amount from your lodges as a future credit.
Why the later tiers tighten. On safari and Zanzibar trips especially, we prepay lodges, domestic flights, and experiences well before your arrival, and much of that is non-refundable to us once committed. The tiers reflect what we have already paid out on your behalf.
Refund details. Refunds are sent by bank transfer to your nominated account, and any bank fees are deducted from the refund. Some costs, such as lodges, internal flights, and other third-party services, are paid in advance and become non-refundable to us well before your arrival, sometimes as early as 90 days out. Where those committed costs are higher than the standard tier above, your refund is reduced to reflect what we genuinely cannot recover on your behalf. We will always show you the breakdown, so you can see exactly where any retained amount has gone. If you hold travel insurance, we will gladly provide documentation to support a claim.
Turning a cancellation into future travel. The tables above set what we can return to you as cash. The part we cannot refund is almost always money we have already paid to your lodges, flights, and crews, and we would rather it not simply be lost to you. Where a cancellation leaves committed funds with our suppliers, we go back to them on your behalf and work to hold that amount as a credit toward a future GO2KILI trip. Suppliers will often grant a full credit for a future booking, though this depends on each one and we cannot promise it in advance. Any credit we recover, we hold for your future travel with us, with no expiry. If you rebook, you would only cover the difference if rates or the season have changed by the time you travel. We would always rather protect what you have invested in the trip than see it disappear.
Once your deposit is paid, we hold your price. We will only ever adjust it for genuine increases beyond our control that land before your trip, such as government or national-park fee changes, new taxes, or major currency swings. We absorb minor increases ourselves, and if a real adjustment is ever necessary, we will explain it to you clearly and work with you in good faith before it applies. Prices are not adjusted within 30 days of departure.
Travel in Tanzania rewards flexibility. Weather, wildlife movement, road conditions, flight schedules, and safety can all call for a change, and we may adjust the route, timing, or order of a trip where it serves you or your safety. We will tell you as early as we can.
If an accommodation we have booked becomes unavailable through no fault of ours, we will arrange an alternative of equal or higher standard. We do not refund services that go unused for reasons outside our control.
If you choose to shorten or extend your trip once it is underway:
Our trips are private and personalized, which gives us room to adjust if your travel is delayed. If your inbound flight is delayed or rescheduled, contact us as soon as you can. We monitor arrivals and will do everything we can to coordinate a new start time with your crew. Note that Kilimanjaro National Park permits are issued for specific start dates and routes, so a significant delay may require a new permit or additional park fees.
If you do not arrive and we have not heard from you, we treat the booking as a cancellation on your arrival date, under the terms in Section 4.
You are the best judge of your own fitness, and we ask you to share any relevant medical information when you book so we can plan well and keep you safe. Please consult your physician about your suitability for your trip, especially for a Kilimanjaro climb, and about any recommended vaccinations or precautions. Some areas we travel are remote, and medical facilities there may not match the standard of those at home.
Climbing Kilimanjaro and traveling in wild places carry real risk, and by booking you accept the risks inherent in adventure travel and release GO2KILI from claims arising from them. We will always share what we know about conditions, customs, and safety, and we ask that you act on that guidance and follow your crew’s instructions. You agree to comply with the laws of Tanzania and the places you visit. If conduct on a trip endangers or seriously disturbs others, we may end that person’s participation, without refund for unused services.
We arrange flights, lodges, transfers, and activities with carefully chosen independent suppliers. We select them with care and will always advocate for you, but we cannot control their acts or omissions and are not liable for them. We are also not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to your baggage and belongings, which remain your responsibility throughout the trip.
If events beyond our control occur, such as natural disasters, political unrest, border or park closures, severe weather, or epidemics, we will aim for the fairest outcome for you.
If something is not right during your trip, please tell your guide or coordinator straight away, so we have the chance to put it right while you are still with us. Any complaint after a trip should reach us in writing within 30 days of its end, at kefas@go2kili.com.
We sometimes share photographs from trips in our marketing, and as a referral-built business, real moments from real guests matter to us. By booking, you agree we may use trip photographs that include you. If you would rather we did not, just tell us, and we will respect that.
We may update these terms from time to time, and the current version always governs your booking. We are happy to send you the latest version on request.
Every policy here exists to protect both you and the people who make your journey possible. From your mountain crew to our local partners and communities.
If you ever need clarity or support, just reach out. We’re here to help every step of the way.
Asante sana (thank you very much) for your understanding and for choosing to climb or safari with a locally owned Tanzanian operator.
Together, we make sure your dream of Kilimanjaro or Tanzania doesn’t just stay a dream.
