Kefas's Story

Kefas Mollel - Founder of Go2Kili and Lead Guide

As a proud Maasai hailing from the awe-inspiring landscapes of Arusha, Kefas is a passionate Tanzanian who loves sharing his beautiful homeland with people from around the globe.

With more than two hundred successful trips up the mighty Kilimanjaro, Kefas brings unparalleled guide expertise and deep knowledge of the terrain. With a wealth of experience that spans decades, his spirit and compassion for his team and travelers creates memorable and meaningful trips.

Starting as a porter for other guide companies, he embraced the challenge and shouldered the aspirations of those who dared to venture up Kilimanjaro's slopes. Honing his skills and experience, Kefas then served as a skilled cook who impressed hungry climbers with hearty meals during their journeys.

In 2012 he became a licensed guide. His deep connection to the mountain and his innate ability to connect with people from all walks of life forged a path for him to share his passion and expertise with the travelers.

Guiding others to the summit is more than just a profession for Kefas; it is a calling that he wholeheartedly embraces. He loves the opportunity to share stories of the Tanzanian people, his remarkable experiences and the beauty of the mountain to inspire travelers to embark on their own transformative journeys.

During the off-season, Kefas attends additional courses within the tourism industry to sharpen his skills and expand his knowledge. Handpicking his team of dedicated porters and support staff, Kefas’s leadership and commitment to providing the best working opportunities have set him apart in the industry.

With an experienced team by his side, they bring together a wealth of knowledge and a deep love for Tanzania, ensuring that every climber's experience surpasses expectations.

Kefas lives with his wife and children in Arusha.

Frank

Lead Mountain Guide

Jambo! I’m Frank, I am a lead guide with Kefas at Go2Kili. I absolutely love my job and feel honored every day for the opportunity to share Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru with our guests. I’m a proud Chagga and have lived in the area my whole life.

I’ve been passionate about nature and our natural resources here since I was born. I have a certificate as a Professional Tour Guide and a Leadership certificate. I’ve lead more than 100 travelers to the Mount Kilimanjaro summit. I love being ambassador for my country and connecting guests to my wonderful country.

Nickson

Mountain Guide Support

I’m Nickson. Originally from a small town outside of Arusha, I’ve been working with travelers to trek Mount Kilimanjaro for eight years. I started working as a porter and then a camp cook for 3 years before becoming a guide. I attended the Africa Wildlife College to receive my certificate of guide certification in 2021.

Best part of my job: Helping hikers feel comfortable and confident that they can reach the summit. I love seeing their smiles and being together with them when they’ve achieved their goal!

Ayub

Mountain Guide Support

Hello - I'm Ayub. Born near Mount Meru, I've lived and worked in the Arusha area my whole life, and I feel so proud of what I get to share with our guests. I've been a guide on Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru for 5 years. I graduated from the College of Africa Wildlife Management with a Certificate of Leadership and Tour Guide. I love reading and learning all I can about tourism and feel grateful to show travelers the beauty of Tanzania.

Hi! I'm David. I'm a professional chef that works magic cooking delicious meals for hungry hikers during their journeys. As a chef for more than 14 years, I love trying new recipes and love the challenge of unique requests from our guests. From vegan or low carb to gluten-free or high-fiber, whatever our guests need, I'm happy to make.
